Navasota ISD Selected for Texas Education Agency's Online College and Career Readiness Program

Navasota ISD has been selected to participate in the Texas Education Agency’s Online College and Career Preparation Technical Assistance Program.  The purpose of the program is to provide online college preparation assistance to students, parents, and high school counselors. Navasota ISD students will be able to utilize Collegiate Zone’s TOPQUEST system which provides access to tools for college and career preparation including a personal assessment tool; SAT/ACT/THEA preparation system; complete database of majors, colleges, funding, and careers; college prep planner and tracker; and an online manager for admissions and financial aid applications.

TEA, in conjunction with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, launched the Online College and Career Preparation Technical Assistance Program as a pilot project in 2010 to help Texas students manage the complex college selection and application process. Research shows that availability of information, access to financial aid, and parental involvement and knowledge about college are strong predictors of college attendance and completion. Navasota students and parents will have access to the program beginning in the 2012-2013 school year.
